THE FULL STORY
ABOUT
HANDCRAFTED
After becoming a Green Beret, Lyle decided to step away from the Army life and use his GI benefit to apprentice under Anna’s dad, Michael Greene.
Michael also used his GI benefit after Vietnam, to apprentice under a local master craftsman, Max McSwain. After seven years of apprenticeship, Michael took over McSwain’s Antique Shop in 1980. McSwain's Antique's then turned to Michael W. Greene Antique Reproductions and Restorations, where Michael then went on to have 50 plus years of experience hand crafting artisan style furniture.
In 2016, Lyle began his apprenticeship program and immediately began to excel. He learned to hand turn by eye items such as table legs and bedposts. He also learned the lost art of hand cut dove tails, building in both modern & vintage styles, and staining and refinishing as well. He even became a certified welder to be able to bring metal working into our builds. Quite often he has created metal bases for various wooden tabletops.
Anna has a background in administrative work, business ownership and some woodworking skills. She will be assisting Lyle on all builds and apprenticing under him also.
